Camping On The Island Some information for you on the South Stradbroke Island camping grounds, open all year around... Prices valid until 1st July-09 There are 4 campgrounds on South Stradbroke Island, completely surrounded by native bush and by white sand-dunes facing the Pacific Ocean on the eastern side, with the Broadwater on the western side of the island. The island is 23 km long, 2.5km wide with plenty of walking tracks. The cost of camping for 2 people (Extra person 5+ yrs - $5/night) is : Offpeak : $20/night ; Peak (school and public holidays) : $25/night Price of huts (basic A-frame with single bunk beds) available only at Currigee and Tipplers : 2 person on-site Hut : $50/night Sun-Thurs, $55/night Fri-Sat 4 person on-site Hut : $55/night Sun-Thurs, $60/night Fri-Sat Bookings are required at all our campgrounds... There is no power at the campgrounds and you need to bring fresh drinking water. There are amenities at all camp grounds... Tipplers, Currigee & North Curigee camps have hot/cold showers, Bedrooms has cold showers only. Electric BBQs & a playground are available at Tipplers and Currigee Campgrounds only. Camp fires are allowed at all campsites in designated concrete fire rings only. Bags of firewood are available from the rangers for $15/bag or you may bring your own with you. Fuel for your boat is available at Runaway Marina. Transport To The Island Visitors may reach the island via their own boat or Zane's Water Taxi, departing from Runaway Bay Marina. Zane (M: 0404 905 970) $50 1-way transfer to Currigee for 1-6 people with camping gear $90 1-way transfer to Tipplers for 1-6 people with camping gear Groups of 20 people - $12/person return You are not allowed to take a vehicle over to the island.
